Is it just me, or is now the perfect time to think about your next career move?
Recruiters often say the job market slows down over the holidays, but I beg to differ. My last four meaningful job changes all started with late fall job searches and led to January or February start dates.
While it may be unusual to start a new job between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, this season is ideal for diving into the search process. With companies planning for the next year and budgets about to renew, it’s the perfect time to get ahead and position yourself for a fresh start in the new year.

How to Use AI to Improve Your Behavioral Interviewing with a STAR Technique Bot
This year, one of my favorite ways to use AI was to level up my interview skills while job-seeking.
In the first two parts of this series (which you can see here and here), I showed you how to use AI to tailor your resume and create a custom mock interview bot. This final step is even more versatile—it’s a technique I’ve taught to college students and job-seeking friends alike. What I love about it is that it takes under 10 minutes to set up, and you can use it for any job interview you prepare for.
When I was in my 20s, I relied on a “job interview prep guide” to craft career-specific stories using the STAR technique—Situation, Task, Action, and Result. This popular framework helps candidates structure their answers in a way that gives recruiters or hiring managers the right context while highlighting actionable outcomes.
But it's tough to come up with these stories, and it takes a lot of time to learn how to succinctly convert your narrative into a bite-sized conversational tidbits.
That’s where AI comes in. By leveraging AI's ability to turn frameworks into scalable tools, I created a custom STAR technique bot. Not only did this improve my storytelling skills, but it also became a reusable mini-app I could rely on for future interviews.
Here’s how I did it:
Using AI to help with your job search is a great (and relatively low-risk) way of learning how to embed AI into your personal or professional workflow. Hope this helps you on your next job search!
